About SDGs

As sustainable development has been an important challenge in contemporary society, various projects for this goal have been progressing worldwide.

The Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, were adopted at the UN Sustainable Development Summit in September 2015. SDGs are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030.

Daiwa supports these goals through such activities as research and development of dietary supplement and livestock feed ingredients that are derived from natural materials, effective use of unutilized resources, and construction of a global partnership network, in accordance with our vision “to help people live healthy lives and enhance their overall well-being by applying the principles of bioscience while respecting the laws of nature”.

Our Approach to SDGs

Our Approach to SDGs

Zero Hunger

We contribute to the sustainable livestock production by developing lactic acid bacteria for animal feed to replace antibiotics used in livestock production.

Good Health and
Well-Being

We develop naturally derived food ingredients to help people live healthier lives and improve their quality of life.

Affordable and
Clean Energy

We work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by shifting energy sources from fossil fuels to sustainable energy sources through the installation of solar power generation equipment.

Reduced Inequalities

We have achieved a 37.5% ratio of female managers and actively hire non-Japanese employees to form an environment where a diverse workforce can flourish. In 2017, we were selected as one of the “300 Small and Medium Enterprises” by the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Responsible Consumption and Production

We have acquired FSSC22000 certification at our Tsukuba Plant. We strive for quality management for the production of safe and reliable products.
