BioBran
BioBran (, or MGN-3, Modified rice bran arabinoxylan, Rice Bran Arabinoxylan Compound (RBAC)) is a rice bran-derived health food ingredient developed using Daiwa's unique technology. More than 100 research articles have been published on BioBran.
Development Background
The condition of the body is maintained at a stable level by modulating body temperature and blood pressure to adapt to internal and external environmental changes. This mechanism is called homeostasis. In homeostasis, the innate immune system plays an important role: it eliminates foreign substances (non-self) such as pathogens, viruses and cancer cells. However, it is known that immune function deteriorates with aging and can be weakened or overstimulated by unhealthy lifestyle habit such as smoking, insufficient physical exertion or an unbalanced diet, and by adverse environmental changes and pollution. Deterioration of immune function causes or aggravates infection and malignant tumors, while excessive elevation of the immune system may cause things such as hay fever, atopic dermatitis or chronic inflammation. Recent studies have clarified that dietary fiber and indigestive components in food play a crucial role in the maintenance of homeostasis and immune responsiveness.
Daiwa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. has focused on a dietary fiber considered to have the potential to impact the immune response and developed a multifunctional food inspired by the Japanese foodstuff of ancient times, named BioBran.
What makes BioBran special?
It has long been recognized for its health benefits. Daiwa has created Rice Bran Arabinoxylan compound, BioBran, which is even more effective, by enzymatic modification of rice bran with enzymes obtained from shiitake mushroom (Lentinula edodes, DAIWA-A95) using our proprietary fermentation technology.

About BioBran
Accumulating scientific research data
Since its launch in 1996, we have continued our tireless research activities in collaboration with domestic and international research institutions. BioBran has been the subject of over 100 research articles and presented more than 140 times at academic conferences, with the number continuing to grow.
High performance recognized all over the world
BioBran has been sold in more than 50 countries around the world, mainly in Asia, the Americas and Europe. It is expanding to countries in the Middle East and Africa.
Over 30 years of sales history
It has been widely used in Japan and all over the world for many years, and has a proven track record. Since it is consumed daily, we prioritize safety and quality.
Rice bran and Japan
Rice bran has long been used in various ways to maintain the health of the Japanese people: as a food ingredient in bran pickles and rice oil, and as a bath additive for skin care. With the westernization of diets and lifestyles, rice bran has become less common in daily life, but in recent years, it is once again attracting attention due to growing health awareness and the global popularity of Japanese cuisine.
For our immune system
Our bodies are protected by the immune system. Immunity is a mechanism that protects the body from diseases such as infections and cancer. Various types of immune cells are actively function within the immune system, communicating in a complex manner to maintain good health. When the immune system is disrupted due to excessive stress, fatigue, or aging, the body becomes susceptible to disease, so it is important to keep the immune system well. Conversely, an overactive immune system is known to attack the body's own cells and cause allergic diseases. Therefore, it is very important for optimal health to maintain the immune balance, neither too strong nor too weak.
