A newly published paper on BioBran, titled “Rice Bran Arabinoxylan Compound and Tryptophan Metabolism on Quality of Life of Cancer Patients: A Secondary Analysis of the RBAC-QoL Study,” by a research team led by Soo Liang Ooi and collaborators, provides further insight into how BioBran may support cancer patients undergoing treatment. The paper is a secondary analysis of the previously published RBAC-QoL randomized, placebo-controlled trial, in which BioBran was shown to improve quality of life during active cancer therapy.

While BioBran supplementation did not significantly alter tryptophan metabolism compared with placebo, higher serum tryptophan levels were independently associated with better global quality of life, improved physical and social functioning, and a reduced symptom burden. Importantly, these findings suggest that BioBran and serum tryptophan may each contribute independently to quality of life, warranting further investigation into their combined potential.
