My experiences of prime aging treatment in overseas

Hello, everyone. This time in the fourth series, I would like to introduce my experiences on prime aging treatment in overseas.

At first, examples in the United States. People’s health attitudes in Boston have been eminently different from those in other states since around 2007 when I was studying at the hospital of Harvard University. You may assume that most American people like fast food, and tend to be obese. However, on contrary to these general assumptions, people who live in Boston often go to the gym or go jogging on weekends. In addition, people in Boston are very conscious about their health, trying to prevent lifestyle diseases including obesity, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension, by taking more omega-3 fatty acids and vegetables, and less animal fat. Shops in hospitals and supermarkets usually have a large shelf space for sushi. In particular, trans fatty acids, which are mainly contained in margarine and shortening, are considered to cause serious illnesses such as cancer, infertility, and heart attack. Therefore, food containing trans fatty acids have been banned in the United States since 2018. People with obesity may be regarded to lack of self-management ability in the United States, and tend to be provided with less employment opportunities for managers. Managers are required to manage not only their time and money, but also their health conditions. Gluten- free and vegan restaurants are more frequently seen in Japan these days. However, these foods have already been popular in the United States since more than 10 years ago, especially among people who are health conscious, or are on diet.

In Europe, especially in Spain, Italy and Greece, olive oil has been traditionally eaten for health, since before 6000 BC. Although olive oil is an omega-9 fatty acid, it is hardly oxidized in the body. The oleic acid contained in olive oil prevents myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction, and high blood pressure by reducing bad cholesterol and increasing good cholesterol. Oleic acids are sometimes used for skin care purposes, since this substance is useful in inhibiting and improving skin roughness and wrinkles. Other polyphenols, called oleuropein, which is contained in olive oil, have strong anti- oxidative activity, and are considered to be effective in preventing vascular diseases by inhibiting oxidation of blood cholesterol. Various kinds of oil are attracting attentions in Japan, such as linseed oil, and are displayed in supermarkets. Oil used to be regarded as an unhealthy foodstuff in the past, however, it has recently been found that it matters which kinds of oil should be consumed. Oil which is rich of omega-3 is expected to lower bad cholesterol, to increase good cholesterol, to reduce neutral fat, and to improve blood flow, as well as it enhances memory retention and brain functions by regenerating brain nerves.

Cryotherapy is popular in Korea these days. In this treatment, you stay in a cabin whose temperature is maintained at about -180℃ by liquid nitrogen for a few minutes to improve your systemic blood flow. It alleviates stiff neck and chilliness. This treatment is also reported to consume about 800 kcal in 3 minutes, to reduce cellulite, as well as has dieting effects. In addition, it is expected to exert detox, fatigue recovery, and skin beauty effects, since it cools the whole body. I myself have been aware of the importance of cooling the body. I wash my face with cold water every day, since my face skin gets dry when I wash my face with hot water. It may maintain the face skin tightened, moisturized, and wrinkle-free.

I introduced anti-aging treatment in various countries, however, what I think the most important thing above all is our own attitudes for health care. Young and healthy people may regard it as a matter of course to stay healthy and rarely recognize its potential values. However, we should think about the future status of our own health and well- being, and should spend efficient time and money to realize this vision. As the proverb goes, “Rome was not built in a day.” We can’t achieve optimal health conditions shortly in a day. It should be noted that the accumulated our daily life will lead to the future status of our own health. Enjoy staying healthy at present, and making efforts to achieve optimal health.
