“Vascular endothelial dysfunction and platelet dysfunction occur frequently in patients with hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. Based on this, there was a possibility that NKCP could alleviate symptoms caused by blood flow disturbance by improving blood fluidity, so the effects of NKCP on the subjective symptoms of patients with lifestyle-related diseases were investigated.
The study was a cross-over, double-blind study with 17 female patients who were regularly hospitalized for hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and dyslipidemia. Subjects were divided into two groups, with the NKCP group receiving 250 mg of NKCP per day, and the active placebo group receiving fermented soya extract. The intake period was 4 weeks, and after a 4-week washout period for follow-up observation, the group that took NKCP was given fermented soya extract, and the group that took fermented soya extract was given NKCP for 4 weeks. Before and after administering each test food, subjects were asked to schematically plot their perceived level of headaches, shoulder stiffness, low back pain, and coldness of the extremities by using Visual Analog Scale (VAS).
Ingestion of NKCP significantly improved shoulder stiffness, low back pain, and coldness of the extremities. There was also a trend of improvement in headaches, although the results were not significant. On the other hand, in the active placebo group, there were no changes in all items before and after intake. This study revealed that NKCP intake improves symptoms caused by blood flow disturbance in patients with lifestyle-related diseases.”
