Healthy male university athletes were divided into two groups of 20 and administered either scallop-derived plasmalogen (2 mg/day) or a placebo for four weeks. Concentration and work performance were evaluated using the Uchida–Kraepelin test, a cognitive performance test that measures sustained attention during continuous mental tasks. The results showed that, particularly during the middle and latter phases of continuous work, the plasmalogen group experienced less decline in work efficiency compared with the placebo group. These findings suggest that scallop-derived plasmalogen may help support sustained concentration during prolonged mental effort.
