A special seminar (New Year Special Seminar) with the keynote speaker Hiromi Shinya, M.D., P.C. (professor of surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, USA) was held at the Tokyo International Forum, on January 22, 2006 (sponsored by Healthy Wave). Dr. Shinya, who has become a popular public figure since he participated in a popular TV program and his book became a best-seller.

The seminar had been eagerly anticipated by his fans since the last seminar held in September 2005. Healthcare practitioners, pharmacists, and the public audience listened attentively to Dr. Shinya's ideas on “prevention is the best medication,” and his health tips on following a proper diet. The fact that so many questions were asked by the audience proves that the globally popular “Shinya method for a long, healthy life” (prevention-based medicine) is highly regarded here in Japan as well.

As previously, Daiwa Pharmaceutical (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Japan - President: Yasuo Ninomiya) cooperated and exhibited their main products (BioBran, NKCP, etc.), and distributed samples and flyers at the request of the host organization. The products are widely recognized and we responded to many questions and gathered opinions from the enthusiastic visitors.

Dr. Shinya, now based in the US, has devised a new method called Shinya-shiki (the Shinya method), a colonoscopy introduction technique. He is a world-class surgeon in the gastroendoscopic field, and he pioneered a new technique for large intestine polyp removal by endoscope. He has conducted 300,000 large intestine diagnostic examinations and 100,000 polyp removals.
