Daiwa Pharmaceutical Obtains a Process Patent for "NKCP"

Daiwa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd has applied for a process patent for their main product, "NKCP." The application was approved and the letters patent issued from the Patent Office.
"NKCP" has been highly praised in Japan and other countries since its launch because of many unique characteristics, such as absence of the smell peculiar to Natto. This patent has demonstrated the originality of the product to the public.
According to the Unexamined Patent Publication Bulletin, the content of the patent is as follows:
Title of invention:?@Processed Foods and Food Processing Methods (Patent No. 3632503)
Material: Food processed to incorporate the active ingredient of natto without its peculiar smell (NKCP)
Process: Bacillus natto is cultured in a liquid medium containing soybean components and the resultant soybean fermentation product is subjected to ultrafiltration to remove low molecular weight compounds including the component causative of the smell.
"NKCP" has attracted a lot of attention since development, and was introduced in popular TV programs such as "Hakkutsu Aru Aru Daijiten" (Find many useful things) (Fuji Television?@Network) and "News Plus One" (Nippon Television Network). Obtaining the process patent demonstrated that NKCP is a reliable product. A patent for "NKCP" has been applied for in the U.S., EU, China, and South Korea.
