Daiwa Pharmaceutical held the 3rd pharmacies/drugstores seminar for pharmacists, etc.

Daiwa Pharmaceutical held a seminar towards pharmacies and drugstores at the East One Tower in Shinagawa, Tokyo on October 28. This followed the 2nd seminar in April 2007 and featured the participation of many pharmacy and drugstore owners and pharmacists.

As with the 2nd seminar, Kazushi Komatsu, Komatsu Yakuhin (headquartered in Ibaraki Prefecture) gave a speech entitled gDevelopment, maturation and decline of the immune system defending the body III.h He reviewed the 2nd seminar and explained about changes in immune cells by generation, the close relationship between the intestines and brain, and diseases and the nutrient ingestion level, citing actual examples. He emphasized that it is important to improve dietary balance on a daily basis, maintain intestinal immunity and lymph system in good condition, and maintain good absorption of nutrients. There was also an active question and answer session.

Subsequently, Hisayoshi Kato, the Research and Development Department Manager, Daiwa Pharmaceutical, explained in detail about the results of a study performed at McMaster University in Canada. This study on the molecular weight distribution and absorption of rice bran derived gBioBranh (rice bran Arabinoxylan compound), confirmed that the active component of gBioBrang stayed in the blood over several hours after oral ingestion by blood concentration determination in mice. In addition, he introduced applications of gBioBranh in the clinical practice of UCLA/Drew University of Medicine and Science in the U.S. and clinics in Japan.

gBioBranh is a food ingredient obtained by Daiwa's proprietary production process, whereby soluble dietary fiber derived from rice bran is partially hydrolyzed with enzymes from shiitake mycelia. BioBran enhances immunity in cases of compromised immunity such as cancer, and suppresses it in cases of excessive immunity such as allergy diseases. This point attracts attention.

Daiwa Pharmaceutical intends to hold a 4th seminar, as well as further lecture meetings and workshops in order to disseminate accurate product and health-related information and enhance communication with individuals related to pharmacies/drugstores and health professionals, says President Ninomiya.
