Daiwa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Japan - President: Yasuo Ninomiya) exhibited in cooperation with Health Business Magazine Co., Ltd. at the Japan Pavilion of “Healthplex Expo 2007 (China International Health Products Exposition)” (sponsored by China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products and the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China) held at the World Trade Center, Beijing, China on August 20 to 22, 2007.

This exposition was an exhibition of health food products co-hosted by lower organizations of the Ministry of Commerce of China. There were many exhibits by companies from Japan, Korea, Canada, and Australia besides China.

Daiwa Pharmaceutical displayed the plant-derived polysaccharide processed food “BioBran,” purified filtrate of Bacillus subtilis natto culture “NKCP,” attracting attention for its difference from the conventional nattokinase, a fermentation product by lactobacillus from Kefir in rice medium “Rice Kefiran,” and a food for specified health use “Piotea.” These products were also displayed at an exhibition in Hong Kong last month.

Our booth received visitors from North America and Asian countries besides China. They asked many questions about “BioBran” derived from rice bran because the product is sold in 40 countries and much evidence has accumulated, suggesting a high level of interest.

As BioBran was approved as a supplement food (Chinese version of food for specified health use) in the category of “immune enhancement” last year in China, Daiwa Pharmaceutical will continue to make efforts to extend the market throughout China, according to President Ninomiya.
