Daiwa Pharmaceutical participated in "Functional Foods, Ingredients, and Supply Expo 2007"

Daiwa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Japan-President: Yasuo Ninomiya) participated in gSUPPLYEXPO (Functional Foods, Ingredients, and Supply Expo 2007)h (sponsored by Health Business Magazine Co., Ltd.) held at Tokyo International Forum on April 18 and 19.

This exhibition, joined by many domestic and overseas companies/organizations, gathered over 10,000 industrial participants during the two days. Daiwa Pharmaceutical exhibited the vegetable polysaccharide processed food gBioBran,h which is gaining popularity in domestic medical institutions and in 40 countries, purified filtrate of Bacillus subtilis natto culture gNKCP,h which is watched for the difference from the conventional nattokinase, and the fermentation product gRice Kefiran,h which is produced by lactobacillus from Kefir in rice medium. Among them, gRice Kefiran,h which contains the viscous polysaccharide kefiran at high concentration and has a variety of functions such as possible prevention of metabolic syndrome, was asked about by many visitors, which demonstrated their high level of interest and expectation.

This material has been confirmed to inhibit blood pressure increase, prevent arteriosclerosis, improve lipid metabolism, decrease blood glucose, and regulate intestinal functions in animal experiments. Human studies have also confirmed the serum cholesterol decreasing effect. There are many business inquiries from manufacturers and requests for commercialization from the market.

This year, Daiwa Pharmaceutical participated in the corporate seminar on April 18. With the title gIntroduction of functional food materials based on Japanese traditional foods,h Hisayoshi Kato, Manager of the Research and Development Department, Daiwa Pharmaceutical talked about the development backgrounds, characteristics, functions, and experimental data of the three original products.
