Daiwa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Japan-President: Yasuo Ninomiya), known for the development of original products including “BioBran” and “NKCP,” held the “2nd Pharmacies/drugstores seminar” at East One Tower in Shinagawa, Tokyo on April 8. Many owners of pharmacies/drugstores and pharmacists joined this seminar, which followed the 1st seminar in Oct. 2006.

As with the previous seminar, Mr. Kazushi Komatsu, Komatsu Yakuhin (headquartered in Ibaraki prefecture) gave a speech titled “Development, maturation, and decline of the immune system defending the body II,” where he talked about growth and changes of intestinal bacteria between generations and its relation with the immune system to review the previous lecture.

Subsequently, Hisayoshi Kato, Manager of the Research and Development Department of Daiwa Pharmaceutical explained in detail about the development backgrounds of their original product “NKCP” which contains purified filtrate of Bacillus subtilis natto culture and other main products and what is different from the conventional nattokinase, based on basic and clinical data accumulated until now and the newest information.

Daiwa Pharmaceutical paid early attention to the fact that the Japanese traditional food “natto,” eaten for a long time, contains an ingredient affecting blood fibrinolysis/coagulation and has developed NKCP. Heart diseases and cerebral thrombotic disorders account for 30% of deaths in Japanese people. As NKCP has anticoagulant, blood viscosity decreasing, and fibrinolytic effects, demand for this product is expected to increase in the future.

Daiwa Pharmaceutical intends to hold a 3rd seminar, other lecture meetings, and workshops in order to disseminate accurate product information about safety, etc. and health information and to enhance communication with persons related to pharmacies/drugstores and health professionals.
