Daiwa Pharmaceutical exhibits its main products and gives a presentation at the Functional Foods, Ingredients, and Supply Expo 2006

The Functional Foods, Ingredients, and Supply Expo 2006 (sponsored by Health Business Magazine Co., Ltd.) was held at the Tokyo International Forum (Yurakucho, Tokyo) on April 4^th and 5^th. Daiwa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Japan - President: Yasuo Ninomiya) exhibited its main products, BioBran (rice bran Arabinoxylan derivative), NKCP (purified filtrate of Bacillus subtilis natto culture), and also LK lactobacillus rice medium fermented product Rice Kefiran, developed as our third leading product.

Among the domestic exhibitors, there were companies and organization from Asian countries. Daiwa's NKCP and Rice Kefiran stimulated a high degree of interest from visitors. NKCP is unique in its bacillopeptidase F containing protease, which differs from ordinary nattokinase due to differences in the amino-acid sequence. Rice Kefiran is unique in culturing lactobacillus from kefir in a rice medium.

A presentation titled “Triple function of NKCP” was made at the corporate seminar. Three functions have been confirmed; lysing of blood clots, preventing thrombus formation (anticoagulation action) and decreasing the viscosity of blood. We have emphasized that the anticoagulation action is only found in NKCP, and the agent's ability to decrease the viscosity of blood is now the subject of a patent application.

Daily health care should be built upon functional foods with an anticoagulation action. Therefore, NKCP is an appropriate food material for preventing ischemic disorders and other lifestyle-related diseases.
